The Tram TR-50 is probably the best known lav for film and video production. Whenever people are comparing lavalieres, Tram is used as the benchmark. Trams are small, electret mics typically mounted to clothing and often hidden in wardrobe. They are available in Black, White, Gray and Tan. One of the biggest keys to Tram's success are the finger-friendly mounting accessories that come with the mic. Standard mic accessories include the Tie Bar, Tie-Tack, Tape-Down, Cable Holder, Windscreen, Clip On Holder (Vampire Clip) and a locking plastic case.

Trams can be fitted with a connector to interface with your wireless transmitter and a TR-79 power supply barrel facilitates hard-wired use. The last option to consider is bias. Bias refers to whether the microphone is powered by Negative Bias (-) or Positive Bias (+). The choice here is simple; if your transmitter type can supply Positive Bias go with that. There is virtually no difference between (+) or (-) powering at the transmitter but the benefit is that if you choose to power the mic hardwired with a TR-79 power supply barrel the mic can be powered by either a small battery or 48V Phantom power. The other more important benefit is that Trams powered with TR-79 (+) power supplies will not pickup interference from dimmers used on set.
